Ever since my dog was a baby he's been having these small 'asthma attacks'. It would come once or twice a week, it seems like he suffering and cannot breathe, but he's trying to breathe very hard. I remmeber asking his first vet about it, but i forgot what the vet said and he did not give any treatment. I know several people with small dogs that have these syptoms.
I am planning on taking him to the vet to get a clear answer on it and treatment if possible. But before that, does anyone know what I'm talking about it and know it exactly what it is? Good news or bad? Please help! Im very worried!
If you are talking about what i think you are, it is like a backwards sneeze. I have had a couple of different breeds that did that, and it wasn't ever anything to worry about. It is always good to check with the vet just to make sure there isn't a major problem or infection. I am sure it is nothing though.
Yeah it sounds like reverse sneezing, but always double check with your vet to be sure. You can google it to get a description and that along with your vet can help you decide if that is what it really is or if its something that needs treatment. What breed is it? It is common in small breeds.
if there isn't anything medically wrong with him, then no it isn't fatal, and he could live a great long life. I used to pet my aussie when she did it, but I dont know if it helps. Have the vet double check, and if everything is normal, relax
Google it and put yourself at ease. Its nothing that will kill him. It usually happens when they drink water to fast or get really excited or ran around and got out of breath. Just calm him and like you've experienced before it goes away after just a little while. My poms mostly do it when they drink water to fast and its over withing a few minutes.
Do still double check with your vet though just in case its something else, we're only going on what you've described...
When i brought my second dog into my home, my other dog started reverse sneezing. i was terrified because it sounded so horrible-like an asthma attack. I just massaged his throat when he did it and it usually helped. he hasn't done it in a while
what can i do to help her? have went to 2 vets; given 2 different meds but did not work; i rub her throat and hold her close ensuring her she'll be ok - but thought maybe someone out there might know of some medicine or something i could do - appreciate any help on this thanks
