I spilled my cream and sugared coffee on my keyboard, any ideas what to use to get the keys unsticked. I wiped off the top but what about under the keys. I can feel the letters sticking and makes it hard to type. This isnt something a can of air can handle I dont think.
I saw a question on an internet web site about this and it said to put it in a dishwasher and run it thru the wash cycle but to take it out before the dry cycle. Let the keyboard air dry for at least 2 days on a towel and then use a canister of air to make sure there was no water left inside then plug it back in. I haven't tried this my self but I am about ready to as just wiping the keys off with alcohol isn't enough to get it really clean.
Put it in a sink of soapy water. I wouldn't recommend putting the plug end in the water though. One of my co-workers (blind since birth) dumped his coffee onto his keyboard and the engineer immersed it in a sink full of soapy water and then rinsed it. He said there was nothing in there that would be hurt by the water.
Be sure to turn it several times, while it is drying to get all the water out of the keys. You can tip it over and shake it to get the drips out, also.
Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter.
Ok, I would take a the sprayer from the sink if you have one. If not, use a spray bottle with a good stream. Spray the heck out of it. then towel it off really well, then do it again. You could probably add just a bit of dawn. Good luck
Well, I bit the bullet and went a head and got a new one after I tried washing the other one and then it didnt work at all. It had come with the new computer that I had gotten earlier in the week so I kind of didnt want to go get another one since it was new but I just went and got a really super duper nice one and best of all,,,,,,,,,,ITS SPILL RESISTANT!!! I like it better than thew other one anyway.
When I used WebTV way back in strange years of the nineteen hundreds lol 1999 to be exact... I spilled soda on mine. No matter what I tried the keys still stuck, bad.
I ended up using the remote when I wanted to get on bad enough, popping up the little keyboard screen and searching with thumbs for each letter one by one until my dad got the new keyboard lol Same thing happened to my fiance', my then boyfriend. I suppose people text now all the time like that and it is no big deal, but it sucked.
Sorry it didn't work out, but at least you took care of it quickly and ended up with something you liked even better out of the deal
water, soapy or otherwise, will not hurt a keyboard as long as you make sure it is completely dry before plugging it back in and using it. My dad fixes/builds computers, so I asked him and that's what he said. Good Luck!
I like most cats better than I like most people. I'll try to be nicer if you try to be smarter.
