Malteses

1st of all this is my very first puppy and I am clueless to her going into Heat as it has been refered too! Masadez is about 6 months old and I hae not noticed any bleeding, changes in her moods or vaginal swelling. She has always liked going up to other dogs to smell them so I have not seen her do anything unsual. Yesterday I was outside my sisters apartment taking her out to use the bathroom and out of nowhere this male poodle came up to her and began to sniff her, after sniffing her she stared running on her leash under my legs and so I picked her up! Today my oldest son took her out to use the restroom and out of nowhere again comes this male poodle, but this time he said the poodle got on the back for her and started humping her, I heard aloud cry and my son screaming to get away and I ran outside, Masadez was allowing this poodle to hump her and I ran over there and pulled him away from her. What do I do, can she be pregnant? Will this affect her, she is just a baby.... I googled some information and it said that Maltese should not be breeded until after there second heat...She has not had her first....I am completely clueless on this PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!

Thanks for the advice. So are you telling me that yes she is in Heat because she allowed this dog to Mount her???? We were visting out of town, normally she is in an enclosed backyard and it has never been an issue to where she is taken out at. I am going to get her spayed but we were going to allow her to have one breeding with another Maltese after her second Heat. This is why she is not spayed. It was hard to get him off of her, the owner came outside and was helping me pull them away from each other. This is a big mess, I am a responsible Maltese owner and don't know what to do, she is just a baby. How long does it take to know wheather or not she is or is not pregnant, do I take her to the vet to get a check-up, is there anything to take to make this all go away just in case???????

I have a Maltese at home, we bred her with another Maltese Purebred, she had a healthy pregnancy, we kepther on Dr Harry's Nutritional dry food for puppy's. at the birth the second puppy was breached, we almost lost it, as it's had was stuck, to help with the others.

We took her to the vet to get an injection, another 2 puppies followed (All 4 Boys), but had an x-ray, and the vet informed us that if she did not give birth to the puppy that he saw in there, that we would have to put her through for a c-section, but it wouldn't come out.

So we were told to leave her over night, but there was a chance that she might not come out of it, and we were lucky that another vet was there, to out her through for another x-ray, she did not have another puppy, just a tensed stomach, from the birth, and the needles. She is now 3yrs old, and her puppies had their first birthday in january, all healthy, happy, puppies. There are expensive to maintain while too young to sell, and we lost money rather than gaining any. But my grandparents are happy to have another *Person* in the house.

Not really worth breeding unless you research, you know what you are doing, they are beautiful puppies. Keep the puppies inside for the first few weeks, until they are old enough to get a shot, beacause they can pick up anything from the earth outside.
