While it's probably not the best idea to be out speeding at 2:30 in the morning, I think she was right to drive to a well lit area. I bet she's really glad she has witnesses now. That sheriff sounds like a dumbass,"typically fake cops only have a dashboard light." There is nothing "typical" about being raped by a fake cop (or a real one). All of those cops need to stop and think about what they would want their daughters and wives to do in that situation. I always been told that there is nothing wrong with calling 911 just to make sure the cop is legit.
"Fake cops generally only have one light" well now all the fake cops are going to go out and buy full light sets now that Springfield police department has given everyone a false sense of security about it.
I have always been told to NEVER pull over in a dark area. I can't believe that the police officers handling the case would give her any ticket other than the original speeding ticket after hearing why she did it. I can remember about two months ago there was a series of 'fake cop' incidents in my area and the local news listed 'drive to a well-lit area with people' as a way to prevent possible rape or death. I would be surprised if the rest of the tickets don't get thrown out.

The girl pulled over is in the town I live in, we have had men pretending to be ploice offers just to pull young girls over, and the police has told people if you are not sure keep driving untill you come to a populated and well lite place, thats just what she did. But when she said she didnt know if they were real or not the police said real police cars have a lot of light on there car, persanters just have one on the dash board of the car around here under cover cops have one dash board light, and volunteer emt and fire fighters have lights just like the police cars have on top of than.I would have done the the same thing. i have driven I have driven down the street where she was pulled over and its not busy that early in the morning and not to many lights. My husband used to be a cop and and he has always told me if you are not sure go to well lite and make sure you have people around.
Here in Chambersburg, some of our volunteers only have one light. I completely agree with you, I wouldn't pull over unless it was brightly lite. You never know, and if I was her, I would be going to court over this whole thing.
Same thing here we had people inpersonating police and even going door to door telling people that a robber was in the area and they wanted to check out the house for them. Two days later our stupid news channel broadcasted a specific key shop that you can go to and buy 3 specific keys and get in any house you want. The news guy tried it on air and it was true. He went to a neighborhood with one of the three keys you can buy and was able to unlock 2 out of 5 doors. He knocked first and told the people what he was doing and asked them to lock the door and see if he could open it.
luvmydogs, I dont live too far from you, well maybe 90 miles away but I actually live in the town that the origional fake cop was pulling people over in, West Plains. I live out of town so I was cautious, never got pulled over at nite but know what I would do if I did. I live out of town in timbuktu by my self, I get a little scared but am glad that I have 3 very fierce looking weimaraners that guard the front porch. Friendly as can be most of the time but when it comes to strangers they keep em cornered until I say its OK. My IG's would run and hide under the covers.
tatersmom, good to here someone close to where I live is on here. I am sorry to hear thats where the impersinters police was I heard about it but never really heard where it was at, Its scary you cant drive down a road without being frightened. i never heard did they catch the person doing it.
We had impersonators in a town about 30 miles from my town. They had dash lights, and lights in the grills of thier cars, just like the unmarked state trooper cars in our area. They were pulling people over and robbing them. Scary stuff. In my town it's pretty small and I know almost all the guys on the local force, so I pretty much know who's patroling what area at what times, even the state boy that patrols down here. In fact, Mack pulled me over this past Monday for going a little too fast. He let me go with a written warning though
