Two questions concerning my 3 month old Aussie. She constantly nips, bites at and charges my 8 yr. old Springer. The Springer loves her but we need to curb this behavior before the pup gets too big- she knocks the Springer over she runs at her so hard. We have lots of land for her to run and play although she's happy to stay near us all the time. We get her outside to walk, run, and exercise. She's never tied up so is free to run when she needs too. I've not been able to stop this behavior thus far. The Springer deals with the pup most of the time but I'd like to be able to get the pup to stop this bitting. Any good suggestions? I know she's a herding dog but I'd like her to not go after the Springer constantly. Spraying her with water doesn't work...she loves water. I'd also like to curb her loud yapping when she wants to play with the Springer. Outside is not a problem but when she's inside she's really LOUD. Is this something she'll outgrow or do I have to put a stop to it now? If so...suggestions would be appreciated. We want to get started with our Aussie right and need proper guidance. We live in a small town and the only dog trainer around doesn't really like Aussies. I'll probably take her there to obiedience classes when she's older. It's help with her when she's still young that I'm looking for. Thanks for any help you can suggest.
Well whenever you see her be mean to your Springer you should punish her or keep her on a leash when she's with your Springern and when she nips or something you pull her back and say Ah-ah really fast. Like a punishment would be take her in her kennel for a few minutes and let her back in and if she's mean again keep doing that.
