Pen, you hit the nail on the head. PETA people do nothing but lecture and go to protests so they can feed their holier than thou egos. This person shares nothing about herself except that she is standing by as her "friend" abuses their dog. Then she comes here, where many people are involved in rescue, have adopted pets or do other things that actually help animals, and has the nerve to talk down to us.

I HATE PETA, They are extremist as**oles, and I know first hand. I did volunteer work for them thinking they were a great group, man did I learn. They preach, and campain, and don't even practice what they preach. I worked in an are where rabbits were cramped into an area, if more came in older ones were put to sleep. They don't belive in adopting anything out. Hundreds of parakeets where housed in a room together, Some much dust and feathers, from them flying around I couldn't stand it. I almost ended up in the hospital when I couldn't stop sneezing and couldn't catch my breath. Dogs and Cats were fed veggie food. Hello they are carnivores. I am a bad person becuase I breed dogs, but yet no one in that group will go after puppy mills and congress so that something is done about it. Did you know here in PA. you are still allowed to shoot your dog?

I will support individual rescues, humane society, SPCA, etc. I WILL NOT support PETA or any of the hypocrites that support them.

Thank for you story Illusions. It's sad how PETA drains resources from legitimate organizations. That my main beef with them. I too fell for their crap in my early teens, but was offended that I'm not up to their standards. I doubt anyone could be up to their standards. Feeding animals vegatarian diets is so hypocritical. If feeding you pet a proper diet goes against your beliefs you shouldn't own a pet.

HorseMama, do you not get the irony of joining a site that is for pet lovers, hence people who own pets, then prostilizing against the evils of pet ownership?

To compound it by repeatedly violating copyrite laws without respect of ownership of original materials is not only unacceptable, it is illegal.

Accept that those who own pets and have followed Peta's actions are NEVER going to be Peta supporters and will eventually skip any post you might care to make if you continue along those lines.

Bottom line with Peta is, let them clean up their own backyard before they start telling me how to keep mine.
"Don't accept your dog's admiration as conclusive evidence that you are wonderful".
