My 2 yr old dog is driving meand my hubby insane! Instead of waking us at night to go outside, she goes downstairs and poos and pees on my couch. EWWW!!! Another thing she does is get into the garbage. She will dig a hole to get out and get into neighbbors garbage as well....HELP She is a bichon shihtzu...any ideas??
Thanks for the reply. I think you are right, I may have to pull the crate out again.....I just find it odd that my dog chooses the "couch" to do her business???? She has never crapped or peed on my floor????
Do you think once I spay her this behavior will stop...the garbage part is killing me, she acts like a starving animal in other peoples garbage, yet she always has a full bowl of food at home!
I am not the animal expert, but...Max is the exact same dog he was before he got neutered. I don't think it will make a difference with anything. But, that is only me experience. I would try the crate and some more obedience training. Is anything different in his life? New food, surrounding, people? My lab gets stressed easy...good luck
well first off, i would suggest getting ur couch professionally cleaned. even if u dont smell it, she can, and shes going to keep pooing there until the scent is gone. does she ever do this during the day? she might be losing her memory with her old age( i kno shes 2, its a joke... but no ones laughing) I would suggest a refresher course in house training. yup that means waking up every few hours and taking her out. a few crappy nights of sleep, perhaps a week, and she should start to remember where shes suposed to go. I also agree with crate training. Spaying should be done for more reasons then the sake of your couch. it will be better for her health in the long run. i would also suggest taking her for walks twice a day. one of the main reasons dogs like garbage, is because there are new smells. walking will not only expose her to all the scents the world was waiting, but also will help her relase some of the nervious energy that is agrivating, and may even be causing these problems
