"Breeder" selling pups at 25 days

Some sucker will buy them...

I want to call this "breeder" and give read them the riot act. They are advertising 25 day old puppies as being "ready to go". Go where? A 25 day old puppy should be with his or her mother and littermates. Grrrrrrrr...

"This is a female out of a litter of 7 puppy’s. She was completely hand fed since day one. She is currently eating puppy food but will still take a bottle. She was born on May 23, 2008. She is a 13”, Black, White, Tan - Blue/Red Ticked beagle. Her parents are both 13”. She comes with AKC full registration papers, 5 Year Pedigree on both parents, Dewclaws removed, She is currently being wormed. Shots will be up to date. She is ready to go to her new forever home."

There will some fool that will buy a puppy that is not yet 4 weeks old from this "beagle breeder" just to bring it home and watch it die.

Can you believe they would advertise something like this? They included a picture of the puppy and it is very small, not ready to leave the nest, let alone the mother.

Are you kidding me? That is ridiculous. Those people DO NOT need to own dogs let alone breed them. Gaw What idiots this world has. And they just keep getting dumber.

Actually, it's probably illegal to sell them at that age. In Pa, pups can't be sold until 7 weeks old, and in Md, not until 8 weeks. Find out what the law is in your state and contact the proper authority.

I'm in Michigan and the only thing I can find is the rule for pet shops, so unless she is selling them in a petshop, it seems like it is ok? Those poor puppies.

I always thought it was illegal to sell pups in Michigan before 6 weeks of age, not only illegal, but immoral too.

Basset-it's illegal to sell a pup less than 8 weeks old in Michigan (at least, according to this website I found)

It is citation MI ST 287.335a

I would definately be reporting this person.

Bassett Lover, on the off chance that this 'breeder' doesn't know you don't sell pups at 4 weeks of age, I would think it would be a really good idea to call her. The other possibility is, that it may have been a mistake on her part, as to the birth date of the dogs.

As the puppy is 28 days old and seems to have been exclusively handfed, I can't help but wonder if for some reason the mother dog has completely rejected this one puppy out of the litter of 7 to the point of being dangerous? I'm not excusing her behavior as I think that even if the mother is rejecting it, the pup should still be in contact with the other pups in the litter.

I would give AKC a call, with the 'breeder's' name, and ad info.
I'm sure they'd be interested.
