My little guys are going to the vets next week for their first shots and second checkup. I have one family that cannot wait to take home their little guy. They want to take him the minute I get back from the vets!!!! I thought it best to wait at least a day to see if there is any reaction to the shots and things. Any ideas or suggestioins???
I wouldnt let them go until they have at least had their second set of shots. My pups are seven and a half weeks old and just had their first set of shots and worming and go back for the second on july 8th., They will be 10 weeks old. My stepson and his girlfriend want their pup now too, but too bad so sad, it aint happening.
If you are a dog and your owner suggests that you wear a sweater, suggest that he wear a tail.
I personally do not sell pups before 12 weeks of age. The most I have made for an exception was 11 weeks. If you do choose to go ahead and place them this early, then yes, I would wait and make sure there is no adverse reactions from the vaccinations before letting them go.
People are like slinky's, not really good for much. But its still fun to push them down the stairs.
Sueann, your ultimate responsibility is to the pups. If that means keeping them longer than the new owner would like, well, that's too bad. You need to do everything you can to give them a good start in life, and staying with their mom/littermates an extra few days can't hurt anything, and will probably help.
The average dog is a nicer person than the average person.
I am not sure what breed you have. Many smaller breeds are typically get longer than some large breeds. And of course there are state laws to consider, as if the well being of the pups was not enough.
8 weeks is the earliest I ever let a Boxer puppy go to its new home. If someone wants the pup earlier than that, I simply explain why and there are never any problems. I have allowed folks to visit with their puppy in my home, if they want earlier snuggle time :)
