This is Beautiful, a ten-year-old adopted shelter cat's, story.
We got Beautiful from the shelter eight years ago, looking back, we see that she has come a long way, but on a quitely walked road. When we got her she was terrified; of adults, of children, of new places, of life. Going to a home for five days and then coming back to a cage killed her inside for the first three years of living with us - she was always sure that we would do the same thing to her, that we would hurt her in the same way, so she hissed and growled to protect. after three years we moved, and we took the lovingly called 'Beau-beau' (Be-you be-you)with us. I think, after that, she knew that she had found the family that would love her and give her a home forever. And she started to love us back. Then the winter of 2006 she started to lose weight and seemed sick. on January 11 2007 we took her to the vet, who said that except for her being yellow she seemed fine, she was eating and drinking fine. But they desided that she probably had Cholangiohepatitis (liver), and so we did a ultasound. And everything went downhill from there. She has had ongoing problems for the last year-and-a-half (one year, six monthes and thirteen days)and now the vet found a lump. The vet said that the best thing to do is to keep her on the meds she is on and hope it goes away.
Anyway, her quality of life is fine, - althogh it's hard not to be since her ideal life is eating whenever she wants, and sleeping where she wants - and she feels nothing. She now has a five-year-old 'sister' Patches, and a four-year-old 'brother' Tiger.
And what I'm asking is that you could pray for her to whatever god you believe in, or if you don't believe in god, simply think of her as you turn up the radio and sing in the car, or look at your own pets.
I'll certainly say a prayer or two for all the sick/ill cats and other furry children out there. I lost 3 pets within a month and a half. This year really has taken a toll on us. My dog had cancer in May really bad and had to be put down. Then a few days ago my 2 cats left us. One died within hours of applying over the counter flea/tick drops and the other I got to the vet the next day when she had symptoms too. I had to put her down. and my other two had symptoms too but got to the vet in time and now they are home and doing great. So there is a god and he is helping and watching over us and our furry kids as well. Hope everyone's ill pets will be ok. I feel for you all. You'll all be in my thoughts and prayers.
