I walked up to kane today from the side of him. Well He turned and snapped at me and that IS NOT Kane. He has never snapped at me or even tried. I yelled at him telling him NO BAD DOG. Then I came around to the front of him. Then He got excited to see me like he hadnt even seen me before. Then When I put my hand to the side of his eyes he couldnt see me hardly. He seen when my hand got really close but not when it was kinda far away. He seen me ok when i was right in front of him. I have no money for the vet. Most of you know my situation right now. If you dont my home is in foreclosure and i havent found a place to live. I have to be outta my house in july so i am in bad financial shape. I called my vet and he said he thought he was just getting old. He is about 9-10yr old rottweiler/bullmastiff. That if i wanted to bring him in it would be about 350 and they want be able to do payment plan. What do i do with him know. A 145lbs blind house dog will not be fun at all

i had a collie/shepard for almost 18 years, for the last 5 years of her life she was almost totally blind and deaf. Lady would lay on a rug next to the door and we would make sure to stomp our feet loudly as we approached her .that way she wasn't startled from a sound sleep by having someone suddenly touch her.she knew our scent and would wag her tail when one of her family got close. yes ,it is more difficult dealing with an old dog and it might be impossible if there are small children in the house.i am sorry that this is adding more stress to an already bad situation .have you tried to get assistance from the morgage company to be able to stay in your home? i have been reading that many of the companies are willing to renegotiate the terms of a mortgage so foreclosure can be avoided.

There are no children in the house luckly. I do have a cousin that is 9mnths old. Kane LOVES her but if he is going blind i dont think i will let him around Kennedy any more. My mom has spoke with the mortage company they arent willing to work with us. I cant work right now do to health problems i have. Kane Has only lived with me for 4 yrs. Somebody dumped him out in front of my house. He was HW positive and treated and is negative now. I am afraid i am not going to have him much longer. I am afraid moving is going to really stress him out if he is going blind. He has been in a bad mood today. He actually attacked Diesel when diesel got near him.

sometimes neurological symptoms present themselves as trouble seeing and hearing. you don't know the dog's history since it was dumbed on you- but are there any injuries to the spine or head while you've had him? he could certainly really be going blind- it just wasn't the case for us. we believed our aussie was partially to mostly blind and it turned out to be neurological problems because she was hit by a truck before we got her. in any case- work with the vet if you think he's becoming more agressive with you. make sure nothing is physically wrong with him and that it is really aging that is causing this. good luck.

also- was kane sleeping when you approached him and he snapped? sometimes if you catch a dog wrong while it's asleep something like that could happen...

My Mastiff went blind and deaf when she got older. She did pretty well for a 200+ lb dog. She could maneuver through the house and even around the pool, never falling in. Only thing, she could not tell if the screen door was open and ran into that alot...we replaced it a lot too! However, she lived in the same house since she was nearly 2, until she died at nearly 14. If you're moving, you're gonna have to really get him familiar with the new place, and DON'T move furniture once he knows his way around. Once you can, get him checked by a vet. My Mastiff had cataracts, but our vet didn't feel surgery was a good idea for her because of her age. Yours might.

Well he is acting fine now. He was actually asleep yes he was. He is acting like my normal happy sweet boy
