constantly licking the floor
My dog constantly licks the floor what causes this?

We have been visiting my daughters and my dog constantly licks the floor. She never does this at home. They even had their capets cleaned yesterday and she stills licks the floor all the times.What would cause her to do this?

How old is your dog? I would say it's a type of behaviour brought on by stress maybe, if she's an older dog. If she's a younger dog, she may just be bored, and needs more stimulation. Have you been taking her on nice long walks, of have you been busy visiting with your daughter, and perhaps not spending quite as much time on the dog? When she starts doing it, I would call her, take her outside, play with a toy, or give her a good brushing, anything to distract her. The residue from the carpet cleaner, and the carpet fibers are not so healthy for her ; so I hope she stops this soon. Good luck.

You know I am not sure how old she is because I adopted her from a rescue place. The vet thinks she is around three years old now.

Actually we do go for a long walk every evening. It is several blocks long and she does enjoy it.

She is on a diet as she is too heavy. I know she is hungry but I just can't feed her more.I thought maybe that was why she was licking the foor. Maybe she was just so hungry she was looking for something on the floor. I don't know.
