There is a small lump next to my dogs eye. It's hard and moveable. I think it showed up over a few days, but not sure. She isn't in any pain and it doesn't affect her eyes or behavior. The lump is about 1/2 inch in diameter. Should I be concerned and just watch it? Or go to the vet right away? By the way she is an eight year old yellow lab.
I would go to the vet the next avail. appt. I wouldn't worry about an emergency unless it causing a problem with his sight. It is always a good idea to have a vet check those things out even if they are nothing. Once you have it documented, you can notice changes. It is probably nothing, but it is alway a good idea to make sure. esp. around the face.
My parents have a chocolate lab - he's 12 years old. He had a growth just appear over his eye as well - it looked kind of like a wart. They left it for months, as it wasn't bothering him at all. They called it his "unicorn horn" LOL. Anyway, when they moved here by me, they scheduled visits with their dogs' new vet. vet. They had it removed - it wasn't too expensive, and it was a quick procedure. The vet said the removal was my parents' option, not a necessary thing. Good luck!
