Hi, I want to know if someone can explain the difference in Westies that I see in the photos. Some simply look like a white scottish terrier, but some have a very round head and very small ears. Is this simply the result of a particular style of grooming and having the ears clipped, or are there different styles of this dog from different breeders? Thanks
A well bred westie shouldn't look like a well bred scottie. If yours or others that you have seen look alike, then one of the 2 breeds was bred really bad. Westies are sqare dogs while scotties are longer with much longer faces then the westies. Westies and carins(sorry about spelling) look alike. It was once said that original carin people didn't like the white, so those who did devolped it into another breed. I dont know the truth.
If I were you I would go to AKC.org and look at west highland terrier and see what that says it should look like... If you are looking to buy a pup and the parents don't have that look than it is probably a bad breeding and a BYB!
