I have 3 kittens having eye issues all from differnt litters. Two of them have very pink /red irritatied eyes that are very watery. They aren't stuck shut or crusty, just look very irriated and puffy. We've been using an antibiotic ointment on them for 6 days and it's just not getting better. Is there anything else we can do to help them. They are on clavamox and florta flora with thier food as well. and it just seems to be getting worse.......then I have one younger kitten about 8 weeks now who had an eye cold but now it's just awful. her poor eye is so swollen and when you try to open it to put the ointment in you still can't erally see her eye because it's soo swollen. She's also been on the florta flora and clavamox in her food as well. they are all very good eatters. We will be able to see our vet next week but he's out of town till then, and she only has one other vet in his office, and the last time we saw her she miss diagnosed our past eye infection and perscribed steriods for a scratch and now that kitten is blind and might lose her eye, so needless to say we want to wait for our vet who we love to come back in town. Any advice would be great. Thank you all so much.
You're giving a probiotic and an antibiotic at the same time? Sounds like they may be cancelling each other out and preventing the antibiotics from working. My vet had told me to use Benebac (probiotic) but to give it several house after I had given the antibiotics. I had a kitten with some issues and we were working through different treatments. I am not sure what eye ointment you are using but my breeder told me to use Terramycin for my persians. Eye issues are very common with persians. It is unfortunate that your vet is away, but a week is a long time to wait for treating the babies. You could end up with permanent damage. I would try calling another vet in your area if you don't trust the one covering your vet's office.
