I'm a first time pet owner and lately my dog has been constanly licking and biting her paws. I'm worried that she might get an infection. What can I do to make it stop? When I bathe her, I'm througly washing off all of the soap... Also, she been scatching her body so badly lately, she's penatrated through her skin and it's starting to bleed. I'm worried.. please help!
I just put in a long post about my experiences with that (along with other symptoms) and recently discovered it could be a food allergy....read up on commercial foods (Iams, purina, Eukanuba, Science Diet) they aren't all they ppear to be...good luck
I had a similar situation when my 2 year old cockapoo was just a puppy. She was biting and scratching herself and also some other items in the house. She wasn't at the point of breaking the skin, but she was getting into a habit of it. One of our friends that had gottten their cockapoo at the same breeder just a few months earlier had suggested the sour apple spray that kept them from biting. Instead, my dog licked it. That night when Sophie was put into her crate for bed, she was very fidgety, and skittish. She wasd licking the crate and for some reason giving off electric sort of shocks. We didn't know what was happening. The next morning we brought her to the vet, and it was a reaction to someting in the spray that my dog was allergic to. I don't know if your dog would be allergic to it, but that was just my situation.
