This is a great site to learn a lot. I Know NRA to me means National Rifle Association, but in the dog world if there is a NRA I have no idea. I don't show or breed. Just have a puggle who was a rescue. Got him just before he was scheduled to be Put to sleep.
What kind of dog do you have? Is Blighty England??
thanks for the welcome normap. Yes am in england. weathers been awful this summer! we haven't got our dog yet and its a big discussion in our house about what breed we should get. been planning on getting a puppy for 2-3 years. this is a great website for finding out more about everything not just dogs! I'd like to have a beagle my husband to be wants to have a cocker spaniel and the boys would love any as long as they can play with them! i looked in to the akk but they have a long waiting list and are generally only found in usa. where are you from? bev
Blockerc, you took my line! lol Arkansas(central)born and raised. And just as you said "We love it here" and would'nt live anywhere else. I love the fact that the weather is constantly changing. I will take heat and humidity over blizzards and freezing temps anyday. I am always being teased abut wanting to hybernate in the winters(and it does not even get that cold here, lol) Anyway my husband and I have been married for 29yrs we have one son, married. We are presently owned by a pack consisting of: 2 yorkies 12yrs. Cricket and Slick, Aussie 13yrs. Kutter, yorkie/pom mix 8yrs Higgins. I have been a professional dog groomer for 20yrs. now and I love my job! My customers are always commenting on the fact that they don't have to drag their dogs in my shop. They just pull up in the parking lot (we are in the country) open the car doors and the dogs jump out and run up the ramp and scratch at the door to be let in!!! The owner never even gets out of the car. I love the fact that they love comming to see me!!!!! I really like this site and would like to say HI to all, I feel like I already know some of you, from reading all your post and hope to talk to you all in the future.
Right now I think Michigan is perfect. The days are nice and warm (shorts and a T), the nights cool (jeans and a sweatshirt). It's great!! Just can't wait to see the leaves start changing any time here...and then for the dreaded cold and wet crap! :-(
"The dog has seldom been successful in pulling man up to his level of sagacity, but man has frequently dragged the dog down to his."
hi boxerburgess, I'm not a cockney, but I am British and lived in London for 10 years (Harrow). I went on holiday with a friend to Tenerife one year and decided to stay, so here I am 23 years later. I still go back to London (went last December) and going again this year with my kids, I love it just before xmas with all the decorations in the shops and there is plenty of culture too for the kids which unfortunately we don't get too much of here in the Canary Islands. Talking about xmas, can't believe its almost upon us yet again, where did this year go......
Bev, Sorry been offline for awhile. I live in Michigan 40 miles north of Detroit in Lake Orion. Right now we are just into fall and it is today lovely. Last few days, dank and nasty. I love fall with the cooler air, blue skies, changing colors etc. It has been a terrible year weather wise. Did you get your dog? What kind?
jabhoe4 You come to Lake Orion on the 4th of July every year? Come on over. Let me know where and we will meet you. Great! Can't wait till next year. I sure hope we have a better summer, this year was really cool and damp. Predicting snow showers tomorrow, yesterday had 2 freak hail mino storms. I was raking leaves and Rocky and I were in the front all of a sudden it got really dark and started to hail, Rocky looked all over trying to figure out what the heck pelted his back, finally he just started to try and bite the hail just like he does with rain drops. It was a riot. I gave up on raking and we came in the house.
Keep next 4th in mind, we will try to at least meet.
