I just bought puppy who is now 7 months old, those pizzels, and yes I know what they are! Gross, but trying to find something that she can chew on instead of rawhide chews, any how I was reading on a different site I think it was zoo( somenthing) and this persons pet ended up with diarrhea and bloody stools. Has anyone had this problem and is this something I should not let her have and is there anything that I can get that will satisfy her chewing that will not harm her?
My dogs love them and have been given Bullie Sticks aka Pizzles since they were going through the teething stage. I wouldn't suggest giving them as a steady diet, but as something to teeth on, they're great and make a healthy snack.

I never had the bloody stool, but as my full sized aussie got older, she would eat them to fast and it would give her loose stool. She also got that from pig ears. I have never had a problem with them, but they are so expensive that I dont give them all the time. With aussies, they are a very expensive treat, and not much of a chew toy unless they are very young puppies.
They are a wonderful chewie if you get the good ones...nice, thick, long ones. They can't be bought just anywhere. The ones I give my Basenji ain't cheap...about $6-$7/12"-stick, but they last quite awhile. They should be at least 1-1/2 inches in diameter and made from bull pizzles. Don't be fooled by those that are made from "muscle tendon," they ain't the same, they ain't as good or as long-lasting, they stink, and they ain't bully sticks.
