Hello, i have not been on here in awhile so im going to update you on me and my family before i ask my question. well my family has grown and i now have 2 kittens, Wrigley and Cloe. and i still have my two dogs snickers and sugar. well my daughter was at a shelter and found a little male schnauzer that she has fell in love with and has been asking us for him every chance she gets. well my husband is saying no, but she is soooo detrmand to get this little dog that she has even sent us emails telling us how much is does and how responsible she is. well heres my question,i know that my daughter is very responsible and will take care of the puppy , but do u think that i should let her get him just because of that. and do u think that children should be given pets just because they are responsible?
I wouldn't do it because you already have dogs and your husband says no. I don't think it would be very fair or nice to bring a new pet into the home that he doesn't want to share his home with. Kind of like "I don't care what you think, you will deal with this schnauzer for the next ten years."
I think it's okay to get a dog for a child so long as the parents understand that ultimately it is THEIR responsibility. So if the child does not care for the dog, the parents must do so.
"Be who you are and say what you feel. Because those that matter, don't mind...And those that mind....don't matter."
I completely agree with Shiny. The only reason you should bring this dog home is if you and your husband are commited to giving it a forever home. Your daughter may very well care for the dog, but what happens when she goes to college? Obviously, you will be responsible for the expenses.
yes i agree with you.. but the only thing is (this may sound bad)is that my husband really always at first says no but he gives in to whatever he has said no to... i really would like to have another dog and i know that i have two but we have plenty of room our backyard is a good 2 acres. and yes i know the responsible is really need from the whole family not just the person that is wanting the animal or whatever they are asking for. oh andd i have a question for those of u who have cats and dogs well he have two kittens that we have had for about a month and we are really scaryed to introduce them to our chow chow snickers because she killed a stray cat awhile back, but our westie sugar mothers just about anything and she has not tried to harm them. but if you have introduced kittens to your dogs please tell me what happened and how u did it.
