My year old pitt just started having a watery bloody substance after she had diarrhea. We were on a walk and she normaly only poops once. She pooped a second time halfway through our walk which had no blood but was still diarrhea. Then again right after that which was only the watery bloody substance. I'm going to call the vet in the morning because it is too late to call today, but does anyone have any thoughts on what it could be?
My dog had that, and the vet said that you should consider taking a pill that would help the dog not have that issue. They may have constapation or stomach problems, or if the have diahearra then they would poop out some blood from going poop so much. I gave my dog that pill ,and it helped alot. Call the vet, and see what they say.
No way of saying what it is for sure without a vet seeing him. Anything from coccidia, giardia, parvo, bowel obstruction, punctured bowel, to a simple abdominal upset. Take a stool sample with you tomorrow, get him in ASAP. The sample is necesarry to diagnose/rule out many conditions.
Does he chew rawhides, sticks when outside? Is he eating/drinking normally? Acting normal so far?
Good luck at the vets, be sure to update us.
People are like slinky's, not really good for much. But its still fun to push them down the stairs.
Although it could certainly be any of the forementioned causes, It may also be a severe worm infestation, mainly hookworms or even whipworms. Ask for a fecal test to look for worms and even if it comes out negative, ask for a broad spectrum dewormer that covers those two.
If I seem to have a superiority complex, it is because you make it so easy.
