I just became the owner of a 1yr 10 month old shih tzu, the previous owners had him house trained to their basement. I live in the city in a apartment, and started right away training him to paper in the house, and my husband will walk him twice a day, early morning and in the evening. It's going on the third week and he still will pee on the carpet, and have also pooped on the carpet too!! and we would tell him NO! and shake a can of beans by his ears, and he did then stop on the carpet, and then started right back doing it again! the dog was for our 19yr old daughter, but if we can't get this together he has to go!! we are not use to this and for one our cat usues the litter box, so this is a big adjustment for us, Please help, before we ship him out we are willing to try anything!!!
Well the first problem is you are not walking him enough. Do you only potty 2 times a day, Neither does he. He should go out first think in the morning after waking, in the afternoon, after eats, and one last time before bed. Also, get your self an x-pen, put his bed, a weewee pad, food and water in their, and that is his spot. You can also put the wee wee pad where he potties the most on your carpet. It doesn't sound to me like you guys were ready for a dog. You need to go back and retrain him. It isn't unusual for a housebroken dog to become unhousetrained at a new home. Also people lie. Don't give him run of the house, and watch him like you would a baby. If he goes to pee, pick him up and put him on the weewee pad or paper (if that is where you want him to go). Also has he be nuetered? That has a lot do to with it, he isn't peeing, he is marking
