Hey yall. I found this site when looking for some info online. Im hoping that someone here can help me out with a problem i have.
Yesterday i rescued a german shepard puppy that had been wandering around the area for about 2 weeks. He still has his puppy fur, puppy breath, the sharp puppy teeth, and his testes haven't dropped yet. I have been trying to figure out how old he is but i have no idea. I think he's between 6-7 weeks but that would mean that he was dumped at 4-5 weeks old and that makes my stomach turn.
If anyone has any ideas of how old he might be i would be greatfull. He has an appointment at the vet at the end of the week, but i am curious.

It depends on his size, but even that can be effected by how well or poorly nourished he is. I once rescued an emaciated kitten (I mean literally skin and bones, no muscle tissue whatsoever, and so weak that he could not walk) that looked no older than 4-5 weeks... he was actually 8 weeks old, but his early growth had been stunted due to his malnourished condition.

Your best bet on knowing his age is wait until starts loosing his puppy teeth, that almost always starts when the puppy is right at around 4 months old. And of course the vet will probably be able to give you the closest estimation.

He stands a little over a foot tall at the shoulder.He has decent muscle overall. I know he was eating while he was on his own because he was pulling food through the neighbors fence.
