Abby, our 5 year old lab, does this really weird thing where she chews up everything she can get. Stuffed animals, plastic cups, paper, barbie dolls the list goes on and on. But what I find weird is that after she chews it up into a million pieces she rolls in it. She will do this with anything. Her milk bone seems to be her favorite. Is she trying to get the smell on herself or what? After she has been bathed, she will roll on the carpet for what seems like hours. Any advice. Isn't she a little old to still be doing the puppy thing of chewing everything up. It's like she has re-lasped back to her puppy-hood. The only thing that has changed recently in our household is the kids went back to school.
How much exercise does she get, and is it possible she's just bored? My dogs roll in things, but nothing as pleasant as chewed up paper, or plastic, which you should keep out of her reach, by the way. I'm sure you know that if she swallowed a large chunk of something she could run into problems.
Yep, sounds like boredom to me too but I will say that with my Jayda, if I don't pay attention to her when she wants me to, she will find something to chew up. I would definitely keep plastic cups and so forth away from your dog because that could be very dangerous to her health.
