My Gracie has recently started biting the heck out of her feet. I mean chewing on them like they were the newest bone. Anyway, I looked at them when I noticed that she was getting worse about it, and there were bumps on the pads of her feet - three smaller than pea-sized bumps. They aren't full of puss and almost look like strange calluses. Anyway, I took her to a new vet earlier this week, and both of the vets there didn't know what it could be. One of the vets did a scraping to see if there were any detectable mites, bacteria, etc and it came back normal. After they did the scraping, they prescribed an antihistamine for the itching and told me that they would look into it. Has anyone ever had experience with something like this?

What are you feeding her? She could be reacting to her food. I imagine the vets also did a complete blood panel, to test her for a thyroid condition, which manifests itself in the way you are describing. Do you walk her on a lot of concrete? There are a few different reasons for this.If she were my dog, while waiting for the tests, I would take a good amount of bag-balm (sold at feed stores) and massage it into her pads, if you can. If not slap it on, and cover her foot with a sock, perhaps a childs sock. That will fix the irritation, if it's from concrete, and will also soften and soothe the bottom of her feet. Good luck in finding the cause of the problem.
