Congrats on your success! The community pool closed for the season last night, as county schools open again today. After the pool closes at 6, every year the park department holds a swimming party for dogs and their owners. We took Albie and Dora last night and had a blast. THey are not so much water dogs, and they were wearing life jackets, but they did do a fair bit of swimming, and splashing in the baby pool and on the water pad. Albie is a social butterfly, he trotts around and meets all the people and plays with all the dogs, and impresses everybody with his cute little self. Even got his picture taken by the news crew that was there, we are waiting to see if his picture makes it into the paper. He learned to get into the pool via the ramp they provided esp. for this event, but did not relish swimming out away from it. Dora prefered to stick close to us, convinced we were about to drown, and with plenty of treats and the lure of us floating away in the middle of the pool, she was convinced to jump in and swim out to us for a treat several times, then would turn around and get right back out. Stand at the edge of the pool looking worried again, and repeat. =) Neither of them were loving the swimming, but they both a blast meeting the other dogs and playing in the sprinklers and baby pool.
