thinking of adopting a 4-5 year old Jack Russell. I have a 6 year old miniature dacshund at home already. the jack russell seems loveable and sweet. would it do well with my mini dacshund? can any one advise?
Are they different sexes? JRTs are prone to same sex aggression. All lovey and sweet doesn't mean that it couldn't be a problem if not now in future.
he JRT forums at least once a year have a thread on having left JRTs that always got along together alone and uncrated and when that person came home they had at least one dead dog. Love the breed, have a friend who has 5. You just need to be a little proactive.

I have a miniture dachshund and my in-laws have a Jack Russell terrier and they get along great. When we go on vacation or are away overnight and can't take our dog with us, she stays with her "cousin" and they are great together. There are 4 other Jack Russells in the family that my dog interacts with and they are get along great.
is your other dog a very submissive dog or an alpha type? the JRT will probably be more likley to try and be the alpha, just depends I guess on your other dog and the temperment. JRT are also very active dogs
