my children have been looking at these puppys and we said we'd speak to breeders and ask for advice before buying a puppy and the boys have fell in love with these puppies but i've been told to buy a puppy from a registered kennel club breeder but this breed is not listed. Am i missing something? I know its a bit naughty saying those words (kennel club) at the moment and i'm trying to get myself in the picture but i'm a newby so please excuse my manners! can anyone help?
Try the American Rare breed Club, Canadian Kennel Club, and UKC. Apparently AKC hasn't recognized them yet, unless I'm mistaken..just look for the National Alaskan Klee Klais Kennel Club, and they should have the very few breeders that there are. Good luck.
I just looked up that breed and it is recognized by the United Kennel Club (UKC) as well as the American Rare Breed Association (ARBA). That alone would tell me that it is a fairly new breed and therefore not recognized by the AKC. Just curious, why do you say that that it is "naughty" saying kennel club?
They are not recognized my much. I know they can be shown with Rarities, and I belive ARBA. They are FCI registared (I think). There are only a few breeders, and they are expensive. I was looking into getting into them (breeding and showing). My understanding after talking to the only 2 breeders I found in the US is they were developed by one person by breeding down Huskies. They have a few health problems(cant remember what now), and they can be extremly vocal. The vocal part is why I decided not to procede further. I only have an acre and neighbors lol. They do have very small litters, so you can be on a waiting list for a year or more. I know that the lines that were used to produced the breed are very limited. They sound good if you like a dog that talks lol.
hi there, thank you so much for all your help. reply to staceyb - we've had a show on the bbc in england absolutely slating the KC and comparing it to hitler and his 'pure breeds' saying that they are interbreeding too much and are causing many problems with the breeds and are culling healthy dogs if they don't fit their criteria. i'm new to the doggy websites and didn't know if it would go down well mentioning them! all the best. bev
We have shows like that on here too, Canada, but they are usually about the mutt breeds, and it is their "breeders" who claim this, I find it funny that they complain about how strict the AKC and CanKN are, but run out to register to which ever skeezy registry will let them, LOL.
