Hi. I am new to this group and I am hoping that someone can help me with my dog problem. I have a seven month old Shepherd cross puppy. I have had him since he was four months old. He has finished puppy school and he did really well.
The problem is that he barks at me when I sit down at the kitchen table or in front of the TV or at the computer. He also bites me - for no reason and all of a sudden. I tried the "ouch" and ignore, isolation, water bottle, etc., but so far nothing has worked.
He is very hyper but I walk him 3 to 4 hours per day - no exceptions. He is both on leash and off leash on a daily basis, and I am very consistent with him.
I believe you are butting heads with a dominant -aggressive dog. You have to let him know who is boss now, before he gets older. My advice is to seek out the advice of a canine behaviourist. Good luck, and let us know how it goes.
Try walking out of the room and into another, shut the door. Surprisingly it works better when we leave. He will get the idea that the only thing he will get out of this behavior is being alone. It looks like he is seeking attention and when you take that a way from him it should work.
