Hey Getting married in 4 weeks in scotland - gretna green - look it up its a lot lovier than it sounds! Staying at the gables hotel and married in the anvil hall. Can't wait!
Problems - step mother is being a pain! my step sister is getting married 1 year almost to the day of my wedding and its the only topic of conversation which is bugging the hell out of me!
- i have photographer videographer scottish piper etc in scotland (immediate family) and am having a big reception the week after for everyone else but i can't decide whether to hire a photographer and videographer for there too?
- already £2000 over budget! and still spending like its going out of fashion!
- work is really demanding a the moment and its so stressful!

wedding info - for those who are interested -
my dress is ivory a line dress with burgundy flowers - romantica in devon 'shania' 3 bridesmaids have burgundy dresses simpler style to mine and flower girl has a miniture versionof mine.
Groom best man ushers and page boys have black hugo boss suits with ivory shirts and ties (big row over that one! i wanted cravats!) burgundy and ivory flowers.
for the reception we have ivory table cloths, chair covers and burgundy sashes on the chairs and through the middle of the tables and also 'flower cages' in the middle - they're really nice (brought one to go on the dining room table)
any help or advice would be great or if you're on your way up the aisle too let me know maybe we can swap stories!

sounds like you've got a handful. Cant give too much advice, I was married in a registry office, small reception just 40 guests - very straightforward. I think the important thing you should try and focus on is it should be one of the happiest days of your life and you should enjoy yourself!, so try to take things in your stride and not get worked up (easy to say I know), and really if the groom and best man wear a tie instead of a cravat no one's going to notice, or enjoy the happy event any less. Best of luck with the wedding and your new puppy.

Dress and colors sound wonderful. Sounds like a storybook wedding
As far as the videographer for the large reception goes, I would definetly have a photographer for at least an hour or so to get who they can.

As far as your Stepmom goes, Jealousy is probably the reason. Don't let it bother you hon, have a glorious day, its your day. No one can take that away from you!! Enjoy

Could be worse, my stepmother told my father I said I didn't want them there so I didn't have my father at one of the most important events of my life. Took the birth of my first child to heal that breach. My dad learned to not trust what my stepmother said when it concerned me. Just don't let the green eyed ***ches spoil YOUR DAY.

Bev: I would think since you are having photographer at wedding that you would only get a videographer for the home reception. It is really memorable to be able to watch the video later on. Two years ago we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary and my niece made a video of our lives together. We enjoy watching it over and over. Our friends thought it was great when we showed it at our party. I am an at home cake decorator and if you pay my way to Scotland I could make your cake :o) Seriously, don't pay attention to your mother in law. Enjoy your wedding. Be happy and God Bless You.

It sounds beautiful. Just remember, when it gets to be too stressful, and things don't go absolutely perfectly (as they never do in weddings) think of these words: The wedding is not as important as the marriage. No matter what happens, or who pays attention, or what goes wrong, you will walk away from that wedding MARRIED, to the man of your dreams (I hope) and that is the most important part.

My grandmother told me that. Their outdoor wedding got stormed on and was a complete disaster. But she didn't care. She stood there soaking wet in her white dress and said her vows. She and gramps have been happily married for 56 years now. They are like a fairy tale!
