I own a 9 month old great dane. He is very very timid and nervous all the time. I am concerned that his small testicle size is to blame for his behavior. I have several adult danes and none of them ever had such small testicles. If anyone has an answer or advice on this, please help. I hope that after he is neutered, this will eleviate this problem. thanks, lisa
How long have you owned the dog? I would think his behaviour would likely be due to his treatment and surroundings, as well as genetics. I doubt highly if his testicle size has much to do with it, but that's just my opinion. If you're not going to breed him, it's a good idea to get him neutered, but I don't see the correlation between that, and the type of behaviour he's showing. I will be interested to find out if it makes a difference or not.
I don't belive it is his testicle(sp) either. Most dogs early raiseing and socialization are the key to an out going dog. I purchased my crystal is 6months, and see was scared to death of people. She wouldn't even take a steak out of my friends hand. Now that she is almost 2yrs, I worked with her enough that she has her confirmation champion. She still is reserved with strangers, more men the women, but is much better. I would just try to take him anywere you can. Do some obediance classes with him, and let people give him small tidbits of his favorite treat. If it is enviromental, he will come around some. My girl still likes the safty of her crate when people are over the house. If it is genetic, I would just neuter him, and love him for the gentle giant he is,
