I own a 4 year old French Bulldog who has Allergies. The bottom of his feet always itch so the Vet put him on benadryl. From time to time, water just runs out his mouth. This is not drool. It is clear water. He tries licking to make it stop. It is very frustrating for him and I am trying to find something that will help. The benadryl he takes in the morning helps a little. Has anyone ever experienced this and if so, have you found anything that works? Thanks in advance.
I went the holistic way and give Melvin our boxer apple cider vinegar about one tablespoon in his water. He is also taking a natural product called Pollenox which is made with the base of apis (which is bee venom ??) Go and see your at your natural store. I also changed their food to Orijen. It has no grains in it and often times dogs will be allergic to grains in their food.
The first thing I would do is look at the ingredients in your dog food. If it contains soy, corn, or other grains, it could be the reason. Frenchies are susceptible to food allergies; so I would agree with zomo, or I might feed Innova Evo.
juliet, I think you might find some valuable info at www.greatdanelady.com. click on articles go down to Urgent Help, click on Allergies and read what Linda Arndnt has to say... some very interesting reading! Good Luck

I would have his teeth checked. The excess saliva is a sign of gum disease and dental problems. If his teeth and/or gums are infected this will affect his immune system and make him more prone to allergies.
Drooling is sometimes a sign of nausea, has he always done it or did it just start after the benadryl? Does he drool after licking his feet?Could he be ingesting something off his feet??? My male frenchie has allergies and I put him on a non allergen food. Does he only lick his feet? Do you live in an old house, do you give water from the tap?
When I look up into the sky, I think to myself, Wheres the ceiling?
I have had a dobe for ears with skin allergies. Changed to grain free and completely resolved. When I got my Frenchies, I started them on grain free and they had no problems. Sent them to my moms while on vacation and they ate her dogs food.... came home itching and scratching, eyes watering. Got them back on grain free and slowly improved over a week or so. Will never allow anything other than grain free for them!!
