I am so happy that Zoe, my almost 3 year old boxer will be celebrating her birthday soon. She isn't supposed to be with us today and I am thrilled that she is. Last year Zoe started regurgitating everything she ate or drank. She was dying before our eyes. And I was a basket case. The vet told us that she had maybe two months. That was last September. We did several tests and were left with one option a hiatal hernia. I did research after research on the internet. I thought she had mega esophagus Well that was not the case and we finally ended up with the diagnosis of hiatal hernia. There is an operation but only 1 out of 9 dogs make it through. I just couldn't put her through this. I continued my search and came upon a site that specializes in mega e. There I learned there is something called a Bailey's chair. The dogs sits in this chair in the sitting pretty position and the food moves down by gravity. It is working marvelously and my sweet Zoe is with us and as feisty as ever. She was basically given a death sentence I am sooooooooo glad that I still have this great girl. She's spoiled and bad and thats just how I love her I was in contact with a vet on the mega e site and told her how Zoe was doing she told me " if it is not broken don't fix it".
This is a lovely story, and I don't see why it won't work for all of Zoe's life. She's a lucky dog to have you for an owner. Others may have had the surgery, or put her to sleep. I wish her a long and happy life bossing your boy around!(dog)
