I live for Oreck. I have long haired dogs, mini aussies. My mom has tried bagless, and all they did was get clogged and break. I have never had a problem with my Oreck. It does burn belts occasionly, and they are easy to replace and cheap. I take it to a service center every couple of years, although they recommend every year. It has been great, and does a wonderful job picking up the hair. they are pricey though. My other one was my moms, and it lasted so long that when it finally died, and I took it to be fixed, they couldn't even find a serial number on it. So I belive they are worth every penny paid.
are you dealing with removing pet hair from carpeting or hard surface flooring? what about upholstered furniture? long hair or shorthair or a combination ? I have not found any one vacuum that works for all of these conditions. I have short haired Bullmastiffs, long and short haired cats, and a Rat Terrier that sheds enough for three large dogs. We use a Dirt Devil canister for all the hard surface flooring and a Filter Queen canister for the furniture. We no longer have carpeting , when we did I used a Kirby upright and it did a good job, but it did go thru belts frequently and I hated emptying the cloth bag.
We just bought a Dyson .I can say that it is scary what it picked up that my old one didn't. We have two boxers and their pointy fur gets inbedded into furniture. Its the best I have ever used and was highly recommended by pet owners on another site.
I am going to have to agree with the above..I just bought a Dyson animal sweeper and am in love. This vacuum is absolutely amazing. I ran my in house vaccuflo and then ran the Dyson. I had to change the canister 4 times when sweeping my upstairs. Not only did it pick up animal hair, the amount of dirt was gross. I thought my other sweeper was good. I think the Dyson is hands down the best...
I agree with the Dyson owners! I have had the Dyson Animal for about 3 years and it's still working great. No loss of suction, just like they say. I have 4 long haired cats and 1 shedding dog. It works well on my carpets and hard wood floors and has attachments that work great on my furniture. I actually have central vac in the house I just bought but I prefer my Dyson.
I agree I also have the dyson animal and it is great! I think the best vacuum ever :) We only have one dog... and Akita but he does shed alot and the vacuum picks all of it up. Great for hardwood and carpet.
and for the above post on not finding anything that gets hair off of hardwood, carpet, upulstury... ect. the dyson animal is fabulous. You should give it a try!
