I just adopted a BEAUTIFUL 3 mos old tabby female [Pride is her name) to be BEST FRIENDS with my 4 year old male poodle [Pisces is his name]. Just wondering about what I can do to cut back on the shedding. About 4 times I week I groom both of my pets. Brushing, nail clipping, tooth brushing etc. I feed Pisces Fromm and Pride Blue Buffalo kitten. Anyone recommend a food that will help cut back on the kittens shedding? I know you can't stop it totally but what will help keep it minimal? Grooming tips? Thank you!
Enjoy your kitten! Really the only thing you can do to reduce shedding is feed a good quality food and frequent brushing and you are already doing both. My cats really didn't start shedding until they were almost a year old. I have 4 with long hair and I went through a blissful period of thinking "hey, this isn't too bad" But now I have hair everywhere even though I groom them and feed a good quality food.
I have two short hairs, and this time of year they are both shedding like you would not believe! Despite frequent brushing. I brush them both almost every night just because they love it so much. I have found that a "curry comb" works better and results in less hair on my furniture than the traditional soft bristled brushes. But I still do a lot of vacuuming.
Enjoy your new fur-baby!
I like most cats better than I like most people. I'll try to be nicer if you try to be smarter.
