I just adpted a 12 week old beagle-weiner dog mix 5 days ago. I rent my house, so I am very concerned about staining the carpet. He gets taken outside every two hours, or kept in the bathroom when I am gone. I know that potty-training takes patience and time. However, he pees on my carpet everytime we bring him in from outside or let him out of the bathroom to play. This is after using it outside or on his pee pads in the bathroom. I have got to go back to work soon, and have noone to walk him during the day. I was hoping he would train quickly!!! We love him, but I can't have him ruin the carpet. Please help!!!!!!
Congrats on the new puppy. I would recommend crate training. I also don't know about using the puppy pads and training for outside. I've never used them personally, but it would seem kind of confusing if its okay to use inside sometimes but not others. We have a puppy too and she is being crate trained. The first week with her was rough too. She peed in her kennel constantly. We made the cage smaller, so she had just enough room to turn around and lay down. She showed amazing improvement with that. As far as doing it in the house. Restrict his rooms to where you are and only let him out and about in the house when you can monitor him constantly, if you catch him starting to pee, scoop him up and put him outside. Praise him when he goes outside. He'll come along. Good luck. Be patient.
I do believe in crate training but a lil puppy cannot hold it all day...impossible so you would be setting the little guy up to soil the crate. wherever puppy has soipled use something to descent the area.I love natures miracle.eliza is 4 months and will still have an accident. We are trying our best but be patient.so cornering off 1 oom w/ puppy pads may be better.
Blaze went every 15 minutes and I'm not exaggerating. Crate training helped a lot! So I took her out every 15 to 20 mins when she was awake. Before play and after play she always went. She was a year old before I trusted her on the carpet.
