Hello all my question is I have a American bull dog puppy and she is now 4 months and I have owned her for about one month. Well she has been crate trained by her old owners ya owners i'm her third and last happy to say. But the thing is I would like to let her out of the crate and not put her in it at all. Right now only time she is in it is when me and the kids go some where and at night. She is fully house broke and sleeps from 10pm till 7am with no problems. So would it be ok to let her stay out of the crate when we leave and at bedtime. Its been years sense I owned a dog and I never used a crate. Just a gate for a few months. But Saddie is already so big I think she could knock down a gate. And how often should she be eating right now I feed her three times a day is that to much. and when do I give her Adult food. I feed her chicken soup puppy food 1 1/2 cups three times a day. My Xhusband took care of the last dog I had so I'm clueless on alot of things. Thanks
I would try letting her sleep in a dog bed in a certain section of the house. Are you feeding her according to the guidelines (roughly) of the brand you are feeding, and what brand are you giving her? 4 1/2 cups seems like a lot, but I don't know the recommended amount of that food for a puppy. I feed my dogs puppy food for a year, other people may do things differently.
my dachshund is a little over a year and a half and she still goes in her crate at night and when we are not around to watch her. I think of the crate as protection for her so she cannot hurt herself when we are not able to watch her. She also loves to sleep in her crate at night. If we fall asleep with her in the bed, I will wake up an hour later with her sitting on my shoulding licking my face trying to wake me up and she will crawl in her crate and go to sleep. I think she considers it her own little place to go.
