We have a 1.5 year old pom. He was running the other day and pulled up limping on his left hind leg. It was the 2nd time in a month this happened. After it happened, he was not willing to jump up on anything nor climb stairs at all the rest of the day. We took him to the vet and the vet said it was MPL and showed me how his patella moved sideways when his leg flexed. The Vet suggested this surgery which costs $2500 for both legs as both legs have the luxation. We read online that for small dogs you may be able to do without surgery if the dog isn't overweight and it is restricted to certain activities...what do you think?
