We have two Chiwahwah's one of which will eat food in a shocking fast way (worrying could lead to health problems later on) and will always beg for food (I cant eat a meal without him looking at me or hoovering around nearby.) We like to allow the dogs to have freedom of the house we dont believe in shutting them out of a room if possible. But the begging has to stop any help much appreciated.
Do you talk to him when he begs? Tell him to go away? Does anyone ever feed him or sneak him treats from the table? Do any of the dogs ever get human food, espeically licked off a plate or out of a bowl? Then you're perpetuating your own problem.
When you sit down to eat, utterly ignore him. Don't look at him, don't touch him, don't talk to him. If he jumps at your legs, knee him away without saying a word. He's demanding attention and you're giving it if you do anything other than ignore him.
Never give him human food or let him lick the plate after meals, because it makes him come to expect the special treat or reward. At the very least, if you do ever give him human food, put it directly into his food dish, never feed him human food from your hands or from the plate.
As an aside? It's Chihuahua. Not Chiwahwah. That misspelling just makes me cringe :P You should know how to spell your own dog's breed.
