would a beagle make a good service dog?

son has food allergies.

I would like to know since beagles have a good sense of smell would they be able to be trained for food allergies? My son is allergic to peanuts, tree nuts and soy.

It is definatly worth a try. I know there are airports in FL. that train them to find fruits, nuts, ect in people luggage from overseas. You would have to find a trainer that knows how to train for that exact thing. So many of our human products have labels, so I don't understand why you would need a dog, read the label, and don't feed your son anything without the label. I truly belive it is possible.
