I have two 8 week old cavalier puppies coming home to me next week, my question is ,is it best to crate them together or apart. I know I will need to do seperate activities with them so they bond with us speratly but I ws not sure about the cratng.
They need to be crated separately. If they were to fight for any reason, they wouldn't be able to get away from each other. Also, it will be easier to crate train them if kept separate. If one does well with training and the other doesn't-the one doing well would be forced to sit in the other's pee/poop.
Plus, it just makes sense to crate them separately, because you don't want them to become too dependent on each other. I know someone who crated her pups together and to this day, if one has to leave the house for any reason while the other stays home-they go nuts because they aren't used to being alone. Major separation anxiety.
Yes we will be home with them durng the day most times but there will be times they are left alone. My thought was to crate them seperatly at night ,but have a open kennel they are in durng the day together. We were going to try seperate play time, walks and pee breaks for the fisrt few months at least so they are not doing everything togther and bond with family seperatly as well eac other
