Hey everyone, I am looking for a very low key dog. we have a lab now but he is just way to hyper for my family. We have 2 kids, both under the age of 4. So we need a loving low key dog that is excellent with kids. Please if anyone has any suggestions please let me know. thank you
Why not give your lab more excesize and some training and keep him. Instead of getting another dog. Give the one you have know just more attention. He is probably hyper to lack of excersize. Get him into training and he will be fine
If we ban Pit Bulls and Rottweilers are humans some dont like next ?
He has been in training already. He gets lots of excercise. He is outside all day free, not penned up or hooked to a leash. I have tried, but it is hard trying to keep a dog under control when it weighs about the same as me. I need a smaller dog and one that won't plow over my kids when he comes into the house.
Most small dogs are not a good choice for small children. The smallest I can think of that would fit the bill is a beagle, But there again, it will have a puppy stage, it will need alot of excercise and it will need training. Just as your current dog. How old is the lab? What will you do with the lab when you get a 2nd dog?
When you got your lab you made a commitment and now you have to deal with it. I don't know how old he is, but most large dogs don't grow out of their puppy stage until 2-3 years of age. I think you should try to tuff it out. Training classes aren't all the same, maybe you need to try a different approach. If you get rid of the Lab b/c he's too hyper, then you will get rid of a Chihuahua b/c he doesn't like being abused by your kids and then get rid of a Shih Tzu b/c you failed to housebreak it, then the beagle will have to go b/c he barks to much and the cycle will go on and on. If you look at dogs like they are disposable, then you shouldn't own a dog period! I find it shocking that you are looking for another dog before you've even ditched the first one. This is you first one right?
