First let me tell you we are going to the vet tomorrow, but thought that someone here may help till then. Last night I think that my 21/2 yr old golden had a seizure, he stiffened up seemed to flop a little and could not stand, after a few moments he got up but then laid back down with his head in my lap. Is there a test that the vet could do or would he need to see the seizure to tell for sure that is what it was I am at a lost. thanks
I personally would tell my vet I want to be seen right away or go to an emergancy vet. I would never wait after a seizure. Seizures can be brought on by a number of things, and the vet will test for a lot of different things. The last of corse be epilepsy. Could she have gotten into something poisenous, like a plant, food, or substance? Good luck
Thanks for the info, We went to the vet and had alot of blood test done, results should be back on Tuesday, and test should rule out anything else. We need to just keep a close eye on him and the vet said that having a seizure every couple months or so and if not a bad one he does not want to medicate him everyday, only when they become or if they become more fregrent and or worse, he even said that they could come in clusters and that we need to keep a close eye on him,so I guess the first thing is to wait on blood test. I did not ask the vet and I guess I should have but does any one know if this will shorten his life?
As shorten life is just as possible as death. I have seen medicated dogs, and non-medicated at our kennel. It is really a choice you and the vet need to make. One hugh seizure can kill, it doesn't matter if the dog has been medicated or not. Good luck, and I hope everything works out for you.
