She never goes in her crate ... at least as far as I can tell and we also have a gate around her crate where she eats and sometimes plays with a toy. Her crate is just the size for her but I leave the door open at night. However from what I can tell she is fine in there for hours and all night so I know she can hold it... She just likes the carpets and under beds in all the rooms of the house. Thanks in advance for any help.
If you have an area where she absolutely will not urinate, then you need to leave her in there until you are ready to take her outside, take her outside on a leash, praise her quietly while she is going and lavishly after she is finished. Now before I go into this next area, please do not think that I am assuming you are doing anything I am talking about. These are common mistakes made by dog owners on a daily basis, and if by chance you are doing this, you can make the adjustments you need too. I have had many people say Oh my gosh! I do that! I'm a professional dog trainer and all comments are solely intended to help and never to offend anyone. That being said, many people make the mistake of correcting a dog after the fact. All mistakes can only be corrected if you catch the dog in the act of making it. And be sure to praise them when they stop doing whatever it is. I've been a dog trainer for eight years. I wish I had a dollar for every time I heard "She KNOWS what she did!" Trust me she doesn't. If I started yelling at you in another language you wouldn't know what I was saying, but you would sure know that I was mad at you, right? I've seen hundreds of dogs try their hardest to hide where they go to the bathroom inside the house because they think that their owner thinks that going to the bathroom is bad. They don't understand that is is simply wherethey go.The dog should be contained or on a leash at all times until they can be trusted to roam the house. There is a wonderful website www.freedogtraininginfo.com There is an extensive library of free articles on every dog training topic you could think of. I used to work for thos trainers when I was in NY so I can guaruntee the site is written by a certified master dog trainer. Good Luck
