I found a puppy on the side of the road in october. He looked as if he was 4 to 6 weeks old. He was starved and all you ould see was his bones. Now I am trying to get him used to an automtic feeder in case I go out of town. I think he is a bloodhound or maybe a mix with something else. He has gotten really big but he isn't fat. I reently treated him with a wormer but he is still eating 10 pounds of food every 4 to 5 days. Is that normal for a growing puppy? Please give me some feedbak on this
That would depend on the kind of food you are feeding. When dog foods were first developed they were full of fillers so that dogs would become hungry again very quickly, thus them wanting to stay closer to home for there next meal. The higher the qualilty of food the less they normally require to get full. I would be feeding him a good adult food. Feeding puppy food can cause structural damage from growing to quickly.
He's your friend, your partner, your defender your dog.You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours faithful and true to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to worthy of such devotion
I agree with the post above that it depends on what you are feeding. Some foods you might have to feed twice as much as others. If your dog isn't fat then I wouldn't say you are overfeeding but they might be eating a lot because you are not feeding a very nutritious food.
There are a lot of quality foods so you will have to find what works best for him and what is available to you.
