I just signed in as a member. I have a 3 1/2 mo. old multipoo. She is a perfect little dog...except for the potty training. We live in Iowa and right now it is bitterly cold...20 degrees. She will go on a run on the deck...occasionally...but would rather go on the carpet. I tried the pee pads and that was a game for her...grab and run. She does go through the night without going. I'm starting to get concerned that she is outsmarting me...I can tell by her face and actions that she knows she has done something wrong when she goes on the carpet. Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated.
Have you tried crate training? Consistancy is the key. Its not easy! Esp. in winter when it is so cold. But if you can confine her to a small area so you can watch her closely and crate her when you cant then Praise praise praise when she goes where she is supposed to. Make sure when she does go on the carpet that you get the scent out otherwise she will keep going back there. Good luck!
As I always advised all dog owners (new and season alike), if you are keeping your dog inside the house, potty train or some called it housebreaking the dog is essential. You must learn how to train them to do its business in the place you want it too and not anywhere it likes even if you are not around.
Knowing how to train your dogs or puppies will save you a lot of frustrations.
