i have two maltese dogs. one is 4 months and the other is 2 months. the older one was house trained using the bells on the door and was doing a great job til my husband and i got a new puppy. the new puppy goes in the house all the time just about every 10 minutes even after we were just outside. now the older one is going inside now. im working with them all day and no progression....any ideas?
When you clean up the accidents, use something with enzymes in it, which should completely remove the smell. They like to go where they can already smell urine. Other than that, it sounds like you are going to have to start over and train them both as if neither had ever been potty trained. Oh, joy, I know. Just keep at it and be consistent. Maybe try taking them out 5-10 minutes after you just went out, since that is when the accidents seem to be happening. And of course, praise and treats!
Keep them in the same room with you for now, maybe even leashed to you if possible, so that you can catch them and run them outside each and every time they try to go in the house. Remember to praise when they finish up outside even though they started in the house.
