I just got a 6 week old puppy. I want to give him his own shots because the vets prices are so outrageous. I do know I can give him all of them except for Rabies that isn't allowed in my state. I need a list of what vaccines he needs and in what order and how often. I can't seem to find a list that goes through step by step process. Any help is appreciated thank you.
When you say "the vet prices are so outrageous" you should be thinking about what the vet does as well - like examine the overall health of your new puppy. This little 6 week puppy should be checked at such an early age away from mom. I wouldn't think of giving my new baby her shots and not have the vet check her out. That's all part of the responsibility of bringing a new pppy in your home. Maybe you will reconsider that idea. I hope so.
I do agree, the vets charge alot for one shot. You can find them much cheaper. You should however talk it over with your vet. Take the puppy in for a well check. Tell the vet you want to do the shots, and what does she need. Most vets are fine with that. I give my own shots, and my vet has even given me a shot at cost when I had to go away, and couldn't get it my self.
The simple fact, is that pup of yours should still be with its mother. It does need to be seen by a vet, and only a vet in your area is going to know the best schedule for the shots. Some shots don't need to be givin in certain areas, other do. Your vet is going to know best.
