Ok so Luna is about 3 months old. I feed her 3 times a day and she usually is chewing on a bone, teething ring etc through out the day. But She is always acting like she is hungry. I have to put her in her crate while I feed my other animals because she is always trying to eat their food as well. I try to feed them when she is napping but she'll wake up the moment the bowl hits the ground and start whining.
Any advice on this would be helpful. I give her about a cup and a half each feeding. (I gave her 2 cups one time and she threw it up) She is a pit/lab mix.
Hello. I have two pits, a lab and a cat. First off, what type of food are you feeding her? Secondly, you need to be strictwhen it comes to feeding time. My wife and I make all our dogs sit before they can go to their bowls and eat. Well the pits any way. The Lab is 5 and she is really posessive of her food when it comes to other animals. So we feed her in another room. Our pits on the other hand, the male is two and the female is 9 mo. old. The female (Lola), she is sneaky, she will eat her food and then try to eat my males (Halo) food. What we have found that works is, my wife put some rocks in a plastic bottle, and when ever Lola would go near Halo's food and try to eat it, my wife would give the bottle a firm couple of shakes and tell her no. She has responded very well to that. You could also try a squirt bottle filled with water and squirt her evrytime she goes near one of the other dogs bowl.
Now with all that being said, you have to remember that your pup is going to be at least 60 to 70 lbs if not more by the time she is full grown due to her mix. My male Halo is 85 lbs. He isn't getting taller, but he is still putting on weight. You want to make sure you are feeding your pup a food that his high in protein and fatty acids. Foods high in protein and fatty acids, will make her feel fuller longer. You might also have to start giving her smaller portions and feed her more often. Puppies will tend to eat to the point of gorging themselvs so much that they will end up throwing it all up. Ah the joys of puppyhood. I remember them well. I hope this will help.
