My first post on this board - I have 2-1/2 year old American Eskimo/Sheltie mix and weighs about 17 lbs. She is fabulous! Very loyal and affectionate dog, well trained, in a routine, and I was thinking about getting another small dog (no larger than 20 lbs) so that she would have a play mate. I was looking for some advice regarding gender and breed.
I always have heard that if you have a female -you should get a male dog, is that true? And if any of you know breeds well - what breed might be best for her?
Thank you all - I appreciate any comments or questions.
I have almost always had more females then males in my house at one time. I don't see a difference, they all get along as long as they were altered. I have had some small arguements among my breeding girls.
As far as what breed, you should pick a dog that has a similar personality and activity level. You dont want one to drive the other one nuts
Thanks everyone! Appreciate the comments and feedback. I really wanted to get another Eskimo/Sheltie, but my husband doesn't really agree! I'll be doing some more research and will look for a pup that will compliment Lucy.
