I have a blacklab that I have had her four days now. She is a year old and was rehomed due to a babies allergies. I have noticed that while she ate the first two days that she was here she ate just fine, now she is not eating, this being the second day. I also noticed that sheis did not like her water dish, but her new one is working out. Could she have stopped eating because she was beginning to dehidrate?
It may take some time. Labs can be very emotionally sensitive, getting very attached to their owners. She may just be sad and confused at all the changes that have happened once she realized she wasn't going back after a day or 2. Try to be very patient with her and she should start to get her appetite back. Every lab I've ever known loved their meals as long as all else was right in their world.
I would also ask the former owner what kind of dish she was eating out of. Ceramic or Stainless....Sometimes they get freaked out if thier dog tags hit against the dish while eating or drinking, especially stainless dishes, since they make louder sounds that will distract the dog from eating.
